What is SEO and SEM?

SEO is short for search engine optimization, the process of increasing the amount of visitors to a Web site by ranking high in the search results of a search engine. The higher a Web site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user. It is common practice for Internet users to not click through pages and pages of search results, so where a site ranks in a search is essential for directing more traffic toward the site.

SEM is short for search engine marketing; SEM is often used to describe acts associated with researching, submitting and positioning a Web site within search engines to achieve maximum exposure of your Web site. SEM includes things such as search engine optimization, paid listings and other search-engine related services and functions that will increase exposure and traffic to your Web site.

 

About Cox 360 and Pay-Per-Click Advertising

Cox360 is currently running PPC (pay-per-click) ads on Google, Yahoo and MSN as well as each of their content networks or their partner’s sites such as Ask, AOL, Earthlink, CompuServe, NYTimes.com, Food.com, HGTV and many others.  There is currently over 300k ads running on these networks. 

Although the ads started running a short time ago you can see the increase of traffic being driven to the Cox360 website, once the PPC campaigns begun, from an average of 14 visitors a day to 27 visitors a day, as well as the number of visitors have increased almost 100%.

 

Traffic Increase

From November 1, 2007, when the reports where put into place, through December 1, 2007 there have been approximately 700 visitors that have come to the site, the visitors are spending a  majority of their time on the Featured Listings pages.

Cox360 is now concentrating on additional forms of online marketing, mainly focusing on Email Marketing.  We maintain a large email list or many locals in the Oak Cliff area, this mailing list consists of over 3000 addresses.
